The summer is upon us in Brevard County once again. Whether you just bought a new ride or are in the market for one, you need a fun destination to utilize your new wheels. While Florida has been fairing well amidst the coronavirus reopening, we all still need to be vigilant. The CDC has downgraded the risk factor for the disease when it comes to surface transmissibility but still recommends social distancing. The virus seems to spread most easily when people are in close quarters with poor ventilation for extended periods. Many of our favorite excursions should still be avoided. So what can you do in Florida to enjoy the season we all love?
The Great Outdoors
Avoiding large crowds and enclosed spaces is a breeze in the summertime. Brevard County is home to many parks and preserves. The natural beauty of Florida is world-renowned and on full display at this time of year. If you are interested in potential wildlife sightings, look no further than Black Point Wildlife Drive on Merritt Island. This beautiful island is home to the most endangered species of any national park in America. While the central refuge is currently closed, you can still take the seven-mile drive to get in touch with mother nature. If water sports are more your speed, drive over to Sebastian Inlet state park along state road A1A. Fishing and swimming galore can be found here for some fun in the sun.
If you want to spend a little more time outdoors, don’t fret! Brevard County is home to many beautiful campgrounds. Check out Long Point Park and Campground in Melbourne Beach. It is a full-service campground with showers, laundry facilities, a playground for the kids, and much more. Manatee Hammock Campground in Titusville offers many amenities as well. You will find hot showers and a swimming pool for campers in addition to their 166 RV Sites with water, electric and sewer. At these sites and Brevard’s other campgrounds, you can enjoy the weather to your heart’s content. When you are looking for an excursion in your car while staying safe from Covid-19, remember that the fun can start close to home!
